Anderson Ranch Anderson Ranch is a workshop residency program located in Snowmass Village near Aspen, Colorado. It was begun by a ceramic artist Paul Soldner in the 1960's. Anderson Ranch has since expanded to include many disciplines in art and craft including painting, furniture making and sculpture among others. I worked there in ceramic sculpture as a resident from November 1989 to June 1990.
Clay Art Center/Westchester NY's Ceramic Instruction Studio, Shop and Gallery Clay Art Center is a non-profit ceramics workshop and residency program located in Portchester, New York which is a 35 minute commute from Manhattan. It was started in 1957 by Henry Okamoto and Katherine Choy as a pottery cooperative at a time of a craft renaissance in this country. Many ceramists who became well known in the field of ceramic art and pottery started out at the Clay Art Center including Viola Frey and Michael Frimkess,
I began working at the Clay Art Center at the age of 17 making clay as an after-school job. I was there for two years and quickly moved on from making clay to making pots and creating sculptures. I returned in 1984 and continued to make sculptures.

New York Studio School New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture is located on 8th St. in New York City. The school was founded in 1964 by artists including Mercedes Matter, Hans Hoffman and others.
